Synopsis Neil Simon’s affectionate, fictionalized tribute to the popular Broadway district eatery Café Edison otherwise known as “The Polish Tea Room” by the locals, includes an assortment of theatrical types who frequent the establishment, from a controversial comedian to a fading actress to matinee ladies, all taken care of by the couple who run the restaurant. Characters:
Andrew Duncan – British, 50ish
Soloman – African, adult
Mickey Fox- Jewish Comedian, NY accent, 60ish
Bernie – Polish/Russian, Strong 50-70, owner of shop
Megan- 16-20, wanna be actress from Ohio
Arleen and Cindy – theatre patrons, friends, gossips, lower middle aged
Charles- over 40yrs, timeless, small part, quiet husband to overbearing wife
Rayleen- wife of Charles, “dressed up”
Zelda- Bernie wife, owner of shop, motherly, same accent as Bernie
Bessie – African American, actress (small part/ second act only)
Harry- Micky’s older brother, same accent as Micky (small part/ second act only)
